I have no experience in keeping chickens.
I can imagine that for an industrially reared hen, perhaps never seen freedom must be quite stressful, even if it is the chicken paradise on earth (I suppose :-) ).

Too true, and we have a chicken 'granja' next door to us. 15,000 day old chicks arrive, and exactly 7 weeks later they are removed at the dead of night for processing elsewhere.
Cannot bring ourselves to buy chicken here now.
